Derrick Bozkurt began his love affair with music the moment he picked up the bass guitar.  Shortly thereafter he formed a band, Under The Red Flag, and achieved some success prompting the need for an album of their own.  Witnessing and participating in the process of recording their album, Derrick was struck by just how instrumental the recording experience is – both to the artist and to the end product.  It was this moment that Derrick decided to pursue Audio Engineering as a career.  Attending Elizabeth City State University, NC and receiving a degree in Music and Recording Arts, Derrick then went on to receive his degree in Audio Engineering from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences.  Currently, one may find Derrick working on various video game and film projects designing sound effects and writing scores.

Josh Mackey hails from the midwest, and has lived in the Czech Republic, Phoenix, Chicago and now Denver.  His passion for recording music is fifteen years in the making; he began playing guitar when he was 15 years old and started recording his music on a four-track tape recorder.  Several years later he taught himself to use Logic, advancing his recording skills considerably.  While living in Prague, he collaborated with musicians and filmmakers recording and producing, as well composing music for commercials, films and documentaries.  This experience proved to be the deciding factor in pursuing audio engineering as a professional career.  After returning to the States, Josh earned his audio engineering degree at The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ.  Among his proudest accomplishments, Josh had the privilege to intern with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago, where he learned a great deal about professionalism in working with bands and applied technical skills.  The desire to start a recording studio was conceived from Josh’s driving passion for creating music, collaborating with musicians, filmmakers, and artists from local to international scenes, and his desire to capture the vision of these artists through skillful audio engineering.  In short, he wants to make great music with awesome people.

Joe McElliott has spent the last 12 years happily in Denver, CO. His interest in music took root 16 years ago when he saw his first live show. The infectious energy  and visceral reactions of the crowd resonated with him.  He knew he wanted to have music be a part of his life. His appreciation and passion for a variety of genres led him to the University of Colorado at Denver in 2008 – receiving a Bachelors of the Arts in Audio Engineering.  During his education, Joe is proud to have worked on several student films.  After a tenure at Denver’s own 8 Houses Down recording studio where he was able to work with Drag the River and Love Me Destroyer’s albums, he decided to pursue a new avenue.  The fates aligned, and brought him to help start House in Motion in 2010.  His other talents in woodworking and carpentry quickly became apparent as Joe helped design and build the HIM studio space; his sweet manly skills and passion for audio naturally led to building amp cabs under the name Panic Amps.
